Description:
The public museum of Ivan Franko University is placed in two rooms in the main building of the university (built in 1877-1881 for Galician Sejm (local parlament); the athor of project — Juliusz Hochberger).
The exposition is meant to display all the stages of the University development, as not only an educational institution, but also a scientific and cultural centre. There are lots of valuable exhibits, such as examples of graduate diplomas and diplomas of science dated back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Kingdom of Poland and the USSR; documents and personal possessions of remarkable university figures; original manuscripts and printed copies of scientific publications; various awards in edication, science and culture; music and sport awards won by local students; paintings and sculptures; original furniture and scientific instruments, photographs and other items that represent the University history.

Pre-history of Founding the University (late 16th — mid. 17th centuries);
Lviv Academy in Times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth or Rzeczpospolita (1661-1773);
University in the Austrian Period (1784-1918);
University in the Interwar Period (1918-1939);
Soviet University (1939-1990);
University in the Modern Age.
Entrance fees:
Free of charge. Donations are accepted.
Working hours:
10:00-17:00; lunch 13:00-14:00; Saturday, Sunday — days off.
Visitors are welcomed by prior arrangement.
