Lyudkevych Stanislav (24.01.1879, Yaroslav town, Poland nowadays — 10.09.1979, Lviv, buried in Lychakiv cemetery) is a Ukrainian composer, musicologist, folklorist, pedagogue and a music-public man. He is the State prize of T. Shevchenko winner (1964), people's artist of the USSR (1969) and the socialist work Hero (1979).
Lyudkevych is one of the most outstanding Ukrainian composers of the ХХ century, in his creative work national musical style features are combined with late romantic style of European music peculiarities. The composer preferred social and national themes, choosing texts of the greatest national poets T. Shevchenko and I. Franko for musical interpretation, he also interpreted texts of O. Oles, V. Pachovsky, P. Karmansky etc. Lyudkevych worked with different musical styles, he had an inclination for great orchestral and vocal-orchestral forms.
