Glass Museum

Description:
The museum is the only one of the type in Ukraine where Galician glass history is represented. Besides, the museum also houses a gallery — a modern glass exhibition. The idea belongs to Andrew Bokotey, rector of Lviv Art Academy, a well-known artist-glassblower. Nowadays the museum exposition is displayed in two halls.
The historical exposition is situated in the first hall. It contains unique exhibits — glass articles from glasswork of princess Izabella Liubomyrska in Korostiv. The glasswork was founded in XIX c. and competed with those in Bohemia, Siliezia, Shumova. The smart service with the princess monogram, goblets with gilding and ruby strings prove the high level of glass industry in Galicia.

Besides, the exposition of the first hall covers ancient period, Renaissance and Baroque time in local history of glass.

In the second hall modern glass section is located. It is used for contemporary exhibitions of creative works of Lviv Art academy students. One can see here stained-glass windows, plastic art, glassblowing articles. Besides, there are items of modern glass company "Galician Glass". The visitors will be impressed by the great amount of glassblowing articles.
