The museum exposition is situated in the former monastery of the Dominican Order building (ХІV–XVIII с.).
Today the museum is the only one of the type in Ukraine. Its exposition contains rare materials representing the history of world and national religions. The museum has several departments — in Chervonohrad, in Sokal and in Lviv.
There are the following thematic sections in the museum exposition: "Religion of Antiquity", "Judaism", "Early Christianity", "Armenian Church", "Roman-Catholic Church History", "Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church", "Orthodoxy Church in Ukraine", "Protestantism", "Islam", "Buddhism".
The funds contain more than 50 thousand exhibits. And, among them, there are unique ones — a large collection of icons (XVI-XIX с.) and that of old Bibles.
