The museum is situated in one of the oldest buildings in Mykolayiv, constructed at the end of the XIX c. Ivan Matsyyovsky founded the museum in 1989. He was the first museum's manager. Nowadays the museum works partly. Three departments - those of archeology, nature and ethnography - are waiting for visitors.
The museum was founded in 1991. Its profile is that of literary-artistic. It has the title «national». Its exposition numbers more than 600 exhibits and is located in four halls. The visitors will be informed not only about U. Kravchenko and M. Ustyyanovych, but also about other prominent people of Mykolayiv town.
