Museum was opened in 2004. It was the first museum in Ukraine dedicated to Ivan Vyhovsky - the outstanding state and political person of Cossaks time. Museum is the department of Lviv Art Gallery. Museum's exhibits reflect the time of Ukrainian nation struggle for its independence since Zaporizhska Sich appearance.
