Description:

The State Museum of Regional Ethnography "Drohobychchyna" was founded in 1940. The former administrative structure, built in 1894, was given over to the museum. Today the History and Nature Department is located here.


The number of exhibits constantly increases. They are: archaeological and ethnographical materials, documents and photos, articles of local craftsmen, tools. There are also incunabulas, collections of china and faience (XVI-XIX с.) and of Italian majolica (XV-XVII с.), and, there are samples of flora and fauna of Carpathian region, too.



A special attention is paid to the materials, connected with the local prominent personalities:

  • Ivan Franko — a widely-known Ukrainian writer, translator, publicist, political and public figure;
  • Yurij Kotermak (Drogobych) — a scientist, Doctor of medicine and phylosophy, Rector of the University of Bologna, the author of the first local printed book (1483);
  • Ulyana Kravchenko — the poetess, the people's teacher;
  • Stephan Kovaliv — known as "Galician Makarenko";
  • Mykhaylo Drahan  — Doctor of art criticism.
  • There is a separate section dedicated to the local events of liberation movement and that of enlightenment activities in Galicia.

    Working hours:
    10:00-18:00, closed on Monday.

    Adults — 20 UAH.
    Children — 10 UAH.
