Today the Museum expositions are placed in the house, specially built for them in the central city part. They occupy the area of almost 1800 m2.
The Museum exposition is considered to be one of the best among the Regional museums of Ukraine. Nowadays the museum collections number 170 thousand material monuments. The books printed anciently, the ancient arms, the national clothes collections, postcards, rare photographs and documents, the city and village household utensils, the philatelic and numismatic collections, antiques are unique ones.
The Museum's first floor is given to the numerous collection of naturalistic materials. They are united into such sections: 'Palaeontology', 'Geology and Mineralogy', 'Zoology' and 'Botany'. The most interesting among them are: unique collection of insects, stuffed animals and birds. The nature section expositions are constructed by dioramas that represent the main regional landscapes and nature peculiarities of the region.
The sections of the ancient history, those of middle ages and new time are located on the second floor. The two-chambered ground dwelling reconstruction of three-field system culture settlement; the cut down dugout of early Slavs period (VI-VIII с. A. D.); the Ternopil castle (XVI с.) model; the Zboriv battle (1649) diorama; the peasant's house interior of the feudalism period, etc. attract a special attention.
The numerous collection of decorative and applied arts is the subject of the museum's pride. It includes ceramics and textile, folk clothes and embroidery, leather and wooden articles. The embroidered shirts and blouses from Borshchiv that impress by various embroidery technics are of great artistic value.
The modern and contemporary history section is situated on the third floor. It depicts the events of the First and the Second World Wars. The funds collections 'The Rare Documents' help to do it. Mainly, there are the Red Army soldiers documents: books of orders and certificates, military cards, front letters. There are also numerous materials depicting the tragedy of Ukrainian Insurgent Army and Division 'Halychyna'. The diorama 'The Battle for Ternopil' is worth seeing too.
