Regional Art Museum was founded in 1991. The main collection contains more than 8000 exhibits; paintings, graphics, sculpture, arts and crafts collection among them.

It is one of the largest historical-memorial museums of political prisoners. It was opened on October, 14, 1996. The museum's exposition and materials are located in 28 former cells of the city prison. They present the history of national liberation movement in the region.

It is the oldest cultural establishment of the region. Recently it celebrated its 95th anniversary. Nowadays the museum's collections number almost 170 thousand material monuments. Anciently printed books, old armament, national clothes collection, unique materials, things of city and village everyday life, antiques.
