Zvolen District

Zvolen district (Slovak: Okres Zvolen) is one of 13 districts of Banská Bystrica region in Slovakia. Its total area is 759 km², the population is more than 67,000 people and the population density is 89 inhabitants per km². The district capital is Zvolen town. There are 2 towns and 25 villages located in the district. Until 1918 most of the present-day district area belonged to the county of Zvolen, except the south-west which was a part of Gemer Malohont country (Kingdom of Hungary).
