Žiar nad Hronom District

Žiar nad Hronom district is one of 13 districts of Banská Bystrica region in Slovakia. Its total area is 517.6 km², the population is more than 47,000 people and the population density is 92 inhabitants per km². The district capital is Žiar nad Hronom town. There are 2 urban-type settlements and 34 villages in the district. Until 1918 the district was a part of the country of Tekov (Hungary).
