The museum was founded in 1927-1933s on Native School Organization initiative. Yavorivshchyna society took care of the museum since 1931. Doctor Mykhaylo Filts, artist Oleksa Kharkiv, teachers Mykhaylyna Hordynska and Viktoriya Turyanska became its active devotees. After the second world war the museum fell into decay.

In August 22, 2002 the rebirth of the museum happened. Nowadays the fund of Yavorivshchyna Museum of History and Ethnography counts 351 exhibits.

Museum's exposition is located in four rooms and is conditionally divided into sections:

• Spinning and weaving;
• The things of industrial and domestic purpose;
• Ancient Yavoriv town burden;
• Folk craft of Yavoriv region;
• Archaeological monuments and numismatics.

The exposition of Volodymyr Patyk' works — Wooden churches of Yavoriv region has certain artistic value.

The museum cooperates with educational establishments and holds different interesting events, such as an hour of regional ethnography, called From the previous Yavoriv town; the lesson-excursion around the museum and the lessons of ethnology. Yavoriv art school pupils' works exhibition is constantly renewed, it is always in museum's expositions. The library of the museum which is constantly refilled is its pride.
