The museum was created on the base of local Art college. The museum started its work in 1958, when the college still worked in Yavoriv. At that time a methodical room was formed for keeping the best wooden works of students and teachers. In 1963 the college together with the museum was removed to Ivano-Frankove village.
In museum exposition there are a lot of decorative plates with unique Yavoriv carving — flat-relief, relief and delicate one; Yavoriv chests and boxes, decorated with relief carving; pendants of various plates, decorated with Yavoriv carving. There are also wooden sculptures on fairy-tale topic as illustrations to literary works.
The wooden sculptural portraits of I. Franko, B. Khmelnytsky, S. Melnyk, etc. are of great interest for the visitors. They will also enjoy a beautiful geometrical carving on boxes, chests, decorative plates, breadboards.
In the museum exposition one can also see furniture of 50s of the XX c.: a writing table, two bookcases, an armchair and six chairs. The furniture is decorated with Yavoriv carving.
