Museum of Regional Ethnography in Delyatyn

Description:
The renovated museum exposition was opened in Delyatyn in 2012. The museum building used to be the residence of a famous Ukrainian writer Marko Cheremshyna (Ivan Semaniuk). It also belonged to Mykola Lahodynsky, the leader of Ukrainian Radical Party and the abassador of Vienna and Galician Sejms (local parlament). Lahodynsky was also the owner of an advocacy bureau where Marko Cheremshyna worked at the beginning of the 20th century.

The idea of this museum appeared in the mid. 20th century, resulted in creating the exhibition in 1957 by the members of local literary group. The aim of the exhibition was to remind citizens about Marko Cheremshyna as a remarkable public figure and lawyer. Back then, a mobile literary exhibition was created, and later became the basis of modern museum.

Nowadays, the museum in Delyatyn displays exhibits that introduce the everyday life, culture and history of the region of Prykarpattia. It also introduces visitors to the history of Delyatyn and its surroundings, with its unique culture and lifestyle of the local inhabitants. The most precious part of the collection consists of ancient icons, paintings and sculptures, ancient tools, national clothing and some more. A separate room in the exposition is dedicated to Marko Cheremshyna.
