Museums in Zakopane

  • Kolyba Villa is the first house built in Zakopane style. The building led by architect Stanislaw Witkiewicz began in 1892 and lasted for one year. The villa was built for the Polish landowner Zigmund Hnatkowsky, who wanted to place his ethnographic collection in a simple mountain house. Zakopane Style Museum is located in Kolyba Villa from December 4, 1993. This is the only museum in Poland where you can learn about the history and achievements of the first concept of the Polish national architectural style, theoretically developed and practically implemented.
