The church-rotunda (XІІ-XІV с.) is the oldest stone architectural monument in Uzhgorod. Its most ancient part — the rotunda — dates back to X-XI с. Its another part — the Gothic nave — was built in XIV-XV с. It was the time when the rotunda was decorated by wall paintings in the early Italian Renaissance.
