The museum is located in three halls of the secondary school ground floor. Stepan Gavrylyuk, the teacher and public person, was its founder. He was the museum's first manager. In 2002 the museum was awarded with the title «national», and in 2003 - named after Stepan Gavrylyuk. The large part of the museum exhibition is devoted to furriery. Tysmenytsya is the center of this kind of crafts.
