The museum was founded in 2004. It is the department of national preserve «The Ancient Halych». The museum's exposition is placed in three halls. It represents the history of the Karaites emergence in this area, depicts their way of life.
The present museum exposition was organized in 2009. It is located in three halls. The museum exposition includes three sections: "Steppe ecosystems","Water ecosystems" and "Forest ecosystems". On the whole, the museum exposition represents the Halych National Natural Park in miniature with all its unique complexes.
The Picture Gallery was opened in 2010. It is situated on the first floor of the building where the administration of National Preserve «Ancient Halych» is placed. The gallery presents paintings of Volodymyr Savchak, a Ukrainian artist from Australia. Besides, the gallery organizes art vernisages, meetings with artists, writers and poets.
