The museum was opened in 2007, October 14, on the 65th anniversary of UIA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) foundation.
Its exposition is placed in five halls.
The exhibits are divided for convenience into two sections — those of ethnography and history. The ethnographic section attracts attention by ancient things — household utensils, folk clothes, towels. In the historic section one will be interested by the underground shelter imitation and photo documents about liberation movement in the region.
