The Park was founded in 1995. It occupies the area of 11238 hectares.
The park is located in the Outer Carpathians, mainly on the Berehomet lowland n the basins of the Cheremosh river and the Siret river.
The mild climate here is a result of such location. That is favourable for the local flora and fauna. The Park is famous for its mineral springs and beech and fir forests.
One of the most important tasks of the National Park is the protection of its ecosystems.
