Liptovský Mikuláš District

Liptovský Mikuláš district is one of 11 districts of Žilina region in Slovakia. The total area is 1340.7 km², the population is more than 73,000 people and the population density is 54.62 inhabitants per km². The capital of the district is Liptovský Mikuláš town. There are 2 urban-type settlements and 54 villages in the district. This area is a part of Liptovská župa (historical type of administrative division) and is located in the western part of Žilina region in the Váh river valley, between Low Tatras (Nízke Tatry) and Great Fatra (Veľká Fatra) mountain ranges.
