Horyniec-Zdrój

The resort town Horyniec-Zdrój is located on the natural boundaries of Tarnogrodzki lowlands and landscape zone of Eastern Roztocze. The first record of the settlement dates back to 1444, when Mazowiecki prince Władysław presented the locality to Piotr Peczykór, a nobleman from Wilcz. Thereafter, Horyniec-Zdrój belonged to the families of Lutosławski, Gorelowski, Telefus, Stadnicki, Poniński and Karlowski.

Nowadays Horyniec-Zdrój is a famous town resort of Subcarpathian Voivodeship and Poland in general. It specializes in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with disorders of musculoskeletal system, rheumatism and various gynaecological and skin diseases. Moreover, the treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract and digestive, metabolic diseases and heavy metal poisoning are held in health-medical facilities of the resort. High quality natural healing raw material-hydrogen-sulfide water is used for the procedures of cryotherapy and bathing. Also nearby Horyniec-Zdrój there are deposits of highly mineralized mud, applied for the treatment and rehabilitation of the resort visitors.

There are such medical and curative institutions in the town:

  • Farmers' Rehabilitation Centre, designed for the simultaneous stay of 250 people. It specializes in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, rheumatism, joints and spine inflammation, degeneration of joints, diskopathy and postoperative disc prolapse. The procedures carried out in the facility are the following: mud wraps, sulfur baths, kinesiotherapy, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, paraffin wraps, dry massage, inhalation.

  • "Horyniec" Healing Resort Ltd., on the bases of which three health-medical facilities function: "Dom Zdrojowy", "Jawor", "Modrzyna". Procedures conducted in these facilities are the following: mud compresses, hydrogen sulfide water, whirlpool baths for arm and leg, underwater massages, Scottish shower, classic and vibratory massage, electrotherapy, paraffin compresses, inhalations.

  • Health resort "Bajka", which is located in a building of Poniński's palace specializes in treatment of: diseases of the musculoskeletal system (Rheumatologic disease, degeneration of joints and spine, muscle-tendon and pre-joint arthritis), neurological (paresis — flabby or spastic, diskopathy, nerves and muscles diseases), metabolic (diabetes), dermatology (psoriasis) and women's diseases (changes in the ovaries, problems with menstruation, infertility).

The town of Horyniec-Zdrój and its suburbs are equipped with numerous cycle tracks. Brother Albert's cycle track is very popular among tourists, it is marked by green. It begins in the town and leads through Dziewięcierz, Werchrata, Monastyr, Wielki Dział, Jacków Ogród to Narol. The length of the track is 43 km. Every year in June a popular among tourists Roztoczański Music Festival is held in Horyniec-Zdrój.
