MUSEUM OF REGIONAL STUDIES IN ZALISHCHYKY

Description:
In 2002 the museum got its modern name. The museum's funds contain 16 310 exhibits. Its staff conducts scientific and research work. In 1990 the Southern-Ternopil archaeological expedition was founded. The results of its activities are the part of the museum exposition.

The section of natural history contains the information about the local monuments of nature and about flora and fauna of the region.

Section 'Polish period in the local history' attracts visitors by its photo materials about the history of Chervonohorod castle, its owners and about the local high school in Zalishchyky.

The materials about Makovey family, especially Osyp Makovey, are of special attention, too. O. Makovey is a Ukrainian poet, writer, publicist, teacher, specialist in literature and a public figure. Sculptor V. Holofayev is the author of his bust.

A separate section represents materials about the liberation movement in the region. There also is a stand dedicated to Yosyf (Jozef) Shwartz (1887-1947), the founder of the museum.

10:00-19:00; closed on Sunday and Wednesday.
