The museum was opened in 1949, July 17. It is situated in the former M. Cheremshyna family house. The museum's first manager was the writer's wife N. Semenyuk. The first museum exposition was formed. It was illustrated by widely known
Ukrainian painters: I.Izhakevych, V. Kasiyan, O. Kulchytska, F. Manaylo, etc.
