KITSMAN MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND ETHNOGRAPHY

Description:

The museum was opened in 1982, December 23. Later it became a department of the Museum of Regional Ethnography. The museum exposition is displayed in the architectural monument of late XIX c. — the former building of the Post Office.

The museum exposition numbers 2250 exhibits and it is divided into 4 sections. There is also an exhibition hall for temporary expositions.

The first section is that of history and ethnography. It represents materials about local history. The ethnographic collection is worth seeing. It contains things of everyday life of early XX c. and embroidery collection of late  XIX — early XX c.

The second section is dedicated to V. Ivasyuk. There are personal things of the composer: note-books, school progress records, pictures and screen versions written with his own hand, etc.

The third section represents materials about the events of the II World War. There are photos, personal things and documents, military ammunition, arms, letters from the front, etc.

The fourth section is a literary one. It is dedicated to the prominent art workers, such as I. Mykolaychuk, I. Hnatyuk, O. Kobylyanska, Lesia Ukrainka, etc.

In the exhibition hall there are temporary expositions. The works of the teachers and pupils of the local art school are often displayed here.

The museum conducts scientific and research work, too.
Working hours:
9:00-17:00; closed on Sunday and Monday.
Entrance fee:
Adults — 10 UAH.
Students — 7 UAH.
Children — 5 UAH.
Excursion rates:
25 UAH per group.

Go by train to Chernivtsi city, then go by bus to Kitsman town.
