PETRO OBAL Museum

Description:
Petro Obal, an artist of European level, lived in Stryj in 1942-1987. He was born in 1900, April 19, in Obodivka village of Ternopil region. Petro Obal graduated from Cracow Academy of Fine Arts, worked as a teacher of drawing in schools of Poland of that period, participated in art exhibitions. In 1950-1956 he was a prisoner of Stalin camps in Kazakhstan. Then he returned to Stryj and devoted himself to painting. The artist died in 1987, May 26.

Petro Obal is a well-known landscape painter, master of portrait and graphic arts. During the whole life he created more than 700 paintings.

The museum was opened in 2005, June 5. The museum exposition contains Petro Obal paintings collection, his private archive and personal things. There are exclusive exhibits in the museum: the picture "Madonna" (1936) and P. Obal collection of drawings.
Working hours:
9:00-17:00, closed on Saturday.

The donation is greeted.
