The cave monastery near the village of Rozhirche is a historical and cultural monument of Galicia. The monastery complex is located inside the number of caves, and it is a unique example of rock sacral architecture of XIII-XVI c. The complex of the type is typical for Galicia.
The exact date of the complex foundation is unknown. The period of the XIII-XIV c. is considered to be the most likely. There is a theory that Kyiv monks who came here to escape the Tatar attacks, might have been the founders of the monastery.
Now the complex is very popular, especially among those who come here for rafting along Stryj river.
