Modern Sculpture Museum
of MYKHAYLO DZYNDRA

Опис:
The only Modern Sculpture Museum in Ukraine. Over 800 unique works of an abstract art are exposed there, among them: the sculptures of the plastic associations, abstract forms and relief portraits.

Mykhaylo Dzyndra studied in Lviv Art Industrial School (AIS) during German occupation period (1941—1944 years). When he graduated from it, he moved to Bratislava (Czechoslovakia), then he had to move again, to the place, where he could avoid the Soviet wars — to Western Germany. He was accepted into the German Professional Union of Artists. During staying in Munich, Dzyndra created 70 subject sculptures. At the beginning of 1950s he finally lost his interest to the "nature repeating", scilicet to the realism, he decided to devote himself to abstractionism.
Then Dzyndra moved to the USA, where he got into the New York group of ten Ukrainian artists (among them also was Oleksandr Arkhypenko, Yuriy Solovey etc.), he was also recognized by the American critics.
In 1991, when Ukraine announced its independence, Mykhaylo Dzyndra was 71 years old. He came back to his fatherland. When he realised that the state was not going to help him build up the museum, he decided to do it himself, he spent 13 years and over 100 thousand dollars for his aim.
In October 9, 2005 the museum was solemnly opened. Nowadays, over 800 sculptures are exposed there, which were created in the USA, and also masks, made in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the Dzyndra's realist works were not saved — he destroyed them with his own hands in Germany. But the photos of the master's realist works were saved — Mykhaylo Dzyndra's Sculpture album. In master's masterpiece there are over 800 pictures, but they are not exposed. The artist sold his fretted works.
M. Dzyndra's sculptures emanate human's fantasy infinity, positivity in world perception, they give a light sensation of surprise.
