The museum was founded in 1989 in the building of the former prison. Its exposition is placed in five halls. There is also an exhibition hall.

The naturalistic section is located in two halls. Its display represents materials about local flora and fauna, mineral resources and climate.

The next section is dedicated to the ancient history period. There are agricultural implements of primitive period and middle ages, remnants of mammoth and an interesting exhibit — a tun made of one piece of wood.

Next section presents the documents about Boryslav history at the end of ХІХ — beginning of ХХ с. One can see implements for oil extraction, photos of that period, household appliances, etc.

Another section of the museum exposition — "Boryslav and II World War".

One of the rooms is dedicated to Stefan Kovalev, the teacher, the local school manager, the publicist. One can see his photos, documents, personal things.

In museum hall there are pictures of local artists.

To get to Truskavets by train or by shuttle bus from Lviv (from railway station), then to change to shuttle bus to Baryslav. From the bus station go by fixed route taxi No 2 to Town Hall. Then walk about 100 m along T. Shevchenko street.
