The church history is tightly connected with Roksolana — the powerful ruler of Osman empire. As far as a legend says, the priest Luka Lisovsky (father of future Roksolana) served in the church. And just here, Roksolana got her first Eucharist. One of the first church fraternities was organized at the church. It gave money for a unique iconostasis made in Renaissance and baroque styles (1650). The iconostasis is one of the three oldest ones in Ukraine.
The museum exposition numbers 134 exhibits. There are unique samples of icon painting. In particular, the icon "John the Baptist with life" (1520) — one of the oldest ones in Ukraine. And there are also icons of the iconostasis of the end of XVI c. One can see old printed books, wooden sculpture and stone elements of church decoration in the museum exposition.
Nowadays the church-museum is a part of Rohatyn museum complex founded in 2004.
