Regional Museum of Pottery

Description:
In December, 2008 Kobolchyn regional museum of pottery was opened. Its founder is an Honoured Culture Worker of Ukraine — Ivan Gonchar. Here one can find about one thousand pots, created by pottery dynasties of Kobolchyn.


Museum is designed as a potter’s house. In Kobolchyn museum one can also find out secrets of fictile art in practice, because there are equipments for this handicraft and acting glazing ovens.

However, this museum is not only pottery but also shows Kobolchyn history. It presents rich arsenal of last century Ukrainian everyday life. Ivan Gonchar selected unique displays for the museum: a big potter's oven, kerosene lamps, old carpets with three flowers, it was a symbol of prosperity; towels, old doors and windows, shutters. In a big house there are a chiseled table, sofas, chests, benches. There the elements of a village house with a stove, that was always a favourite place for children, and the front room for a young girl with its indispensable attributes — motley pillows, embroidered blouses and towels — are reproduced.


Working hours:
From 10:00 to 18:00, Monday and Tuesday — days off.

Adult — 10 UAH,
child — 5 UAH.
