Section "Bukovyna as a part of Moldavian principality" is of great interest for history fanciers. Here arms and arming of Moldavian soldier (XIV-XVI с.), bust of Alexander Dobry, the Moldavian prince, and a copy of customs charta (1408, October 8) where Chernivtsi city is mentioned for the first time are worth seeing. The exposition dedicated to the Russian-Turkish war with arms and equipment of that period also attracts the visitors.
Section "Austrian period in Bukovyna history (1774-1918)" occupies several rooms. It presents a box and seals of local craftsmen, metal moneybox, iron candleholder. Farming in the region was governed by "Golden Charta" of George Hieky (1766). Here the agricultural implements of that period are worth seeing, too.
The folk movement of local avengers — known as "opryshky" began in the region in XVI c. It had been lasting here for about 300 years. In 1730-1740 Oleksa Dovbush was the leader of the movement. Later, in 1840-es it was headed by Luk'yan Kobylytsya. In the museum exposition there is a collection of opryshky's arming and a big sculptural group "Luk'yan Kobylytsya and his mates" (O. Zdykhovsky).
Exhibition "Noble city of Chernivtsi" is one of the largest museum's attractions. It represents the fine collection of suits and dresses of early XX c.
