From Lviv to Stanislaviv — Three Prince's Capitals

After excursion in Lviv city you will go along the road H-09 towards Ivano-Frankivsk. In 13 km from the detour road you will turn towards Stare Selo second sign board. (Attention! It is also possible to turn towards the first sign board, but then there will be several unnecessary kilometres of a broken road). In Stare Selo there is one of the biggest Renaissance castles in Ukraine, built in 1642 by prince Zaslavsky.

The next stop is in Zvenyhorod, it was a capital of Zvenyhorod principality (ХІІ century) and it was destroyed by Baty khan in 1241. On the former fortress place it is possible to observe the ancient settlement and defensive bank remains, and also visit the Museum of Zvenyhorod History.

From Zvenyhorod you will turn to the road and go towards Ivano-Frankivsk. On the way there you can observe St. Nicolas Roman Catholic church (1402) in  Bibrka, St. Nicolas Roman Catholic church remains (1594) in Sokolivka, tower-dungeon in Pyatnychany (XV century, nowadays — Lviv National Art Gallery Department).

After Novi Strilyshcha you will come to Ivano-Frankivsk region. The first stop is Pryozerne village with Reya Lodge, it is a palace (XVIII-XIX centuries). The next stop is Cherche village-resort, there is St. Basil's church (1733).

Then you will go to Rohatyn, the motherland of legendary Roksolana. In this town several old cultic buildings have been preserved: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (XIV-XV century), the Holy Spirit wooden church (1598) and the Mykolayiv Roman Catholic church (XVII century).

Halych is an old capital of the Galician principality. In the town you can observe ruins of the Starostynsky castle (1367-1658), the Church of the Nativity (XIII-XV centuries) and several museums. The former centre of Halych is located 6 km far from the present town in Krylos village on the mountain of the same name.

By car at a long light day it is available to perform this route for one day, otherwise it is advised to stop for night in Rohatyn or Halych.
