MUSEUM OF BELLS AND PIPES

Description:
The Museum of bells and pipes is situated in the so-called Clock Tower of XVII c. Its exposition has three departments: exhibition of various bells, exhibition of modern pipes and an exclusive exhibition of old pipes from the Museum funds.

On the ground level of the tower there are photo materials presenting the process of the bell production that has not changed since middle ages.

The exposition at the next three levels houses the unique collection of bells. Two bells with the elements of Przemyśl city coat of arms and dates — 1740 and 1864 — are of great interest for the visitors. There are also bells of XVII and XVIII с. from Gdańsk and Toruń, and three clock bells of XVIII and XIX с. In the showcases there also are small decorative bells from Galicia confiscated by Austrians during I World War.

The next section presents unique photo materials and things connected with the Felchinski family, a well-known one producing bells. They started their activities in 1915.

The last section presents bells, which were used on ships. The exposition houses ten bells from cargo and warships. The materials displaying the history of bells as signaling equipment are worth seeing, too.

The next Museum exposition is dedicated to the modern pipe. Przemyśl is a widely known center of wooden pipes production since the middle of XIX c. In the exposition there are pipes of various masters. The pipes of Richard Kulpinsky impress by their unique carving. Pipes of other famous masters, including our contemporaries attract the visitors attention, too.

The department of ancient pipes impresses by the collection of historic pipes from the forts of the Przemyśl fortress, ancient ceramic pipes of Zborovsky manufactory (mid. XVIII — mid. XIX с.) and pipes made of sea foam.
