Łańcut County

Łańcut County (Pol. powiat łańcucki) is one of 21 land counties of Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland. It covers an area of 451.9 km², its total population is over 78,000 people, the population density is 171.5 p/km². The county's administrative centre is Łańcut. Łańcut County was formed on January 1, 1999 as a result of an administrative reform.

Łańcut County has excellent natural and climatic conditions for outdoor activities. During the summer heat one can swim in one of numerous lakes of the county, the most popular are lakes in Łańcut, Wysoka, Głuchów, Rakszawa, Żołynia. Those who enjoy equestrian tourism can rent a horse and ride it near the settlements of Julin, Zalesie, Głuchów or Pogwizdów. Good fishing ponds are located near the settlements of Kornjaktowa, Czarna and Tarnawka. In winter those who enjoy alpine skiing can use the services of Staś ski lift in the village of Handziówka.

There are two marked cycling trails on the territory of the county. Bialobrzeski route (northern) runs in a form of loop through the forests of Gmina Białobrzegi and Gmina Żołynia, passing by the forestry in the village of Budy Łańcuckie. The southern route that runs through Gmina Łańcut is more complicated than the northern, as far as it includes many steep lifts on its way. Also there is one unmarked route which runs through the forests near the villages of Husów and Tarnawka to the Markowa skansen. For the walking tours there is a historical and cultural route in Łańcut: Rzeszów — Łańcut — Nowa Sarzyna.
