Lubaczów County

Lubaczów County (Pol. powiat lubaczowski) is one of 21 land counties in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland. It covers an area of 1308.4 km², its total population is 57,000 people, the population density is 43.7 p/km². The County's administrative centre is Lubaczów. Lubaczów County was formed on January 1, 1999 as a result of an administrative reform.

The area of the county is located at the intersection of macroregions of Tarnogrodzki plateau and Sandomierz Basin, in relief it is represented by Tarnogrodzki plateau and Biłgoraj Plain. Average absolute heights range here from 390 m above sea level within Roztocze to 180-220 m above sea level on the territory of Sandomierz Basin.

Administratively Lubaczów County is considered to be one of the oldest on the territory of modern Subcarpathian Voivodeship. From 1462 to 1793 it existed within the boundaries, similar to contemporary. First it belonged to Bełz Voivodeship, later as a territorial unit of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Commonwealth of Poland, in the XVIIth century it belonged to the territory of Lesser Poland. Thereafter, Lubaczów County was reorganized as a result of unstable geopolitical situation in the region and was absent on geographical maps till 1944. In 1945 Hrushiv local community of Lubaczów County joined Ukrainian SSR, after that the boundaries of Lubaczów haven't changed till now.

Among the most interesting tourists sights of Lubaczów County there are two palaces. One of them, Poniński's palace (XVIIth century, 1905-1912), is located in the town of Horyniec-Zdrój and another one, Narol Palace (XVIIIth century), is located in Narol, which is situated in the north-eastern part of the county. There are spa facilities for those, who want to improve his/her health, located at the Ukrainian-Polish border, in the town of Horyniec-Zdrój. It is one of the oldest resorts in Subcarpathia, that has been existing here since the XIXth century.
