ANCIENT ZVENYHOROD Museum of History

Description:
The museum was founded in 1987. A modern building was specially constructed for the museum's exposition. At the same time a sculptural group near the museum appeared. Visitors can observe sculptures of the Chronicler, the Warrior, the Mother-Keeper and of the Farmer-City restorer. The arch with bells symbolizes the merging of three principalities — Peremyske, Terebovlyanske and Zvenyhorodske.

Exposition is placed on both floors of the museum. On the ground floor the archaeology department is represented. A collection of flinty tools, ancient arming, feminine adornments and wares of bone attracts attention. It is a result of durable archaeological researches and excavations of ancient Zvenyhorod town. The museum also has models of Old Russian temples and a diorama of Zvenyhorod annalistic town, which are worth seeing.

On the first floor of the museum exhibitions and a panorama of modern Zvenyhorod are located. Stained-glass windows (authors — Yankovskys brothers and Y. F. Shusherepa) are the pride of the museum, they picture the Principality Emblem, the entrance gates of Zvenyhorod town, Volodymyr prince etc.
